2021 Summer Plans and Beyond

Can you believe summer is nearly here? It seems that the acadedmic year has gone by in a blur! It's been a challenge for La Semilla's tutors and students to stay connected, but by the grace of God, we have managed to continue to offer tutoring to our students via mobile and web.

Now as things begin to open in the Santa Ana area, we have begun to look at different options for offering our tutoring services in the upcoming year. La Semilla will align with the Santa Ana Unified School District, and will begin offering in person meetings in the summer.

We plan to offer our own summer tutoring hours! We have the hopes of beginning to offer three weeks of additional tutoring before the school year, starting in the last week of July. Granted, we will follow our state protocols and recommendations. If things change, we will let our community know.

The following are some changes that we will put into place:

  1. Distancing Once allowed onto campus, I will be measuring out space in the learning so that we may have a safe number of teachers and students together. Since we are indoors, masks will be required, and La Semilla Learning Center will be investing in plastic dividers to add to our protection.

  2. Air filtration systems and sanitation measures Since we will be indoors, La Semilla is investing in hospital grade air filtration systems. These filters are ideal for the size rooms we are in, and will clean the air hourly. We will also spray down tables with a hospital grade disinfectant after every tutoring session.

  3. Smaller tutoring groups Our tutoring groups have always been small, but now, we will limit the amount of students who come in during our tutoring hour. As we see how the county and state change the protocols, we will adapt accordingly.

  4. Health checks Temperature checks and health screens are going to be incorporated in our tutor hour. Students and Tutors must be healthy to take part in La Semilla.

There are a lot of plans for La Semilla. This is when we need your support and prayer! If you are interested in becoming a tutor (virtually or in person), would like to donate financially to help cover these additional costs, or would simply keep us in your prayers, we would greatly appreciate it. We want La Semilla to continue to be a blessing to our children!

Be blessed,

Andrea Estrada
